Business Tools
Enable non-technical users to do more of the data work themselves, with user-friendly interfaces
Bring engineering and business teams together
When business users need engineering help just to work with their data, it leads to delays and frustrating back-and-forth.
With CloverDX Business Tools, business users get the power to do more of the data work themselves, taking control of critical data tasks and freeing up technical resource.
Dedicated business-friendly interfaces enable non-technical users to take on data quality, data prep and master data management tasks without needing IT intervention.
And because everything is within the CloverDX platform, it’s secure, auditable, and integrates with larger, engineering-managed data pipelines.

CloverDX Business Tools

Data Manager
Enable non-technical users to manually review, edit and approve data in a user-friendly interface – fully auditable and secure.

Wrangler

Data Catalog
Give business users access to bespoke, self-service datasets, accessible on-demand without needing IT intervention
Enable business users in key areas
Data quality
Review, edit, and approve data without Excel back-and-forth
Automated data quality checks can’t catch everything.
For data that needs human intervention, Data Manager gives business users an accessible way to manually inspect and correct data. And unlike editing data in Excel, it's fully trackable.
- Fast, efficient teamwork with features such as workload tracking, AI-powered recommendations, and integrated lookups.
- Fewer delays, with approved data flowing straight back into the automated pipeline.
- A single source of truth, and no more confusion over versions.
- Complete audit trail of changes and approvals, with all data staying within the access-controlled CloverDX platform.
Self-service data preparation
Enable business users to transform data on their own. No coding required.
Users can create, edit and run their own repeatable data transformation 'recipes' in Wrangler’s easy-to-use interface – without needing help from developers, and without any risk of breaking source data.
- Free up resource: No need for business users to wait for IT intervention.
- Save time and ensure consistency: Define steps once and re-run at the click of a button.
- Collaborate easily: Business users can provide data mapping and business logic that can then be automatically incorporated into engineer-managed data pipelines.
Master data management
Centralize management and control of reference data
Give business users ownership and control of shared datasets, with full tracking of changes and built-in approval processes to ensure accuracy and trust.
- Improve trust in data with a clear 'golden record'.
- Maintain consistency by automatically syncing changes between the master dataset and other business systems.
- Track all changes with full audit logs.
- Keep control with an approval process for any changes to master data.
Bring technical and business teams together
Free up resource
When business users can take care of more of the work themselves, it frees up technical resource for more high-value work. And automating data workflows saves time for everyone.
Speed up processes
Business users don't have to wait for IT intervention to get and use their data, and IT can get fast approvals and edits to datasets that automatically flow back into larger pipelines.
Reduce frustrating back and forth
Collaboration is easier when teams share a platform. By enabling different users to work on different parts of the data process in dedicated interfaces, you eliminate sending Excel docs via email, and improve transparency and accuracy.
Auditable, controlled and centrally managed
CloverDX admins stay in full control of access and governance, with full permissioning and complete audit logs of every change - much more secure than managing data in Excel.
Maintain data quality and trust
Make it easier for the people who understand the data to be in control of it, with the entire end-to-end process transparent, trackable, and with centralized safeguards.
All on one platform
Because all of the interfaces are powered by the same shared CloverDX platform, technical users have the same power as always to build complex data pipelines, but now non-technical users can easily work on the data too.
Engineering and business collaboration examples
Both teams can contribute to data processes with CloverDX Business Tools

Manual correction of data flagged for review
Records that fail automatic validation can be pulled into Data Manager for human review.
- The data owner can see all records that need review in a simple interface
- AI-powered correction suggestions and lookups make review faster
- Approved data is automatically fed back into pipeline for further processing
- Workflow and change tracking gives full visibility over team activity

Data mapping by non-technical users
Domain experts can provide mappings as part of an automated data ingestion pipeline.
- The main ingestion pipeline is built and managed by the engineering team
- A mapping template is provided for the business users showing required fields and formats
- Business users can map fields to target columns, with a simple drag and drop interface
- The finished mapping is automatically incorporated into the main ingestion pipeline, so new data is mapped correctly.

Master data management
Reference datasets can be created, edited and managed by domain experts in Data Manager, with full audit history.
- Domain experts ensure reference datasets are correct
- Changes can also be synced from other systems, e.g. an accounting platform
- Changes are detected and flagged for approval if necessary
- Once approved, the reference data is synced downstream
- Data Manager keeps a log of all changes for historic visibility

If users can use Excel, then they can use Data Manager, Wrangler or Data Catalog. For more advanced business users, Wrangler supports writing custom formulas.
The Wrangler interface will be familiar to anyone used to spreadsheets, but unlike regular spreadsheets, with Wrangler you can:
- Record a series of actions and play back at the click of a button, so you can easily repeat the same actions on a new dataset.
- 'Rewind' to see the data at any previous step, without having to undo all your work.
- Make changes without affecting the underlying source data.
- Integrate actions performed in Wrangler with larger data pipelines, e.g. data mappings managed by domain experts in Wrangler, that can be used in an engineer-managed data pipeline.
